IIT Madras 2026 M.Tech Eligibility Criteria
- GATE-Qualified Candidates : Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture or equivalent (or Master’s in relevant sciences) from recognized institutions + valid GATE 2024/2025/2026 score.
- IIT Graduates : B.Tech from any IIT with CGPA ≥ 8.0 (no GATE required; department review applies).
- PwD candidates need at least 40% permanent disability and must upload a valid UDID card.
- Reservations apply as per Government of India norms.
IIT Madras 2026 M.Tech Admission Portal and Application Process
The dedicated MTech admission portal is now live with information brochure, poster, and seat details. Applications are submitted online only, no hard copies required.
Key Steps in the Application Process:
- Register on the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP 2026) athttps://coap2026.iitr.ac.in/coap2026/ (mandatory for GATE-qualified candidates to view and accept offers).
- Fill the online application at the IIT Madras MTech portal starting 28 March 2026.

MTech at IIT Madras Fees Structure
Fees are paid online upon offer acceptance. Based on recent official structures for MTech (Indian Nationals):
One-time Fees (approx.): ₹20,000 (Admission, Student Welfare, Career Pathway, Alumni, etc.)
Semester Fees (approx., per semester):
- Tuition Fee: ₹25,000 (exempt for SC/ST/PwD)
- Other charges (Enrolment, Medical, Seat Rent, etc.): Around ₹15,000–₹20,000
Total Institute Fees for first semester (General/EWS/OBC category): Approximately ₹60,000–₹65,000 (including caution deposit). SC/ST/PwD students pay lower (tuition exemption). Sponsored candidates pay additional tuition.
